Women’s Ministry Team’s vision is to equip and encourage women to serve at CPC and in Oxford. Since WMT is part of the Adult Education Team, we see our role as equipping to serve, not just organizing “girl jobs.” We love to see our women supporting all the other ministry teams in the church as well as the Women’s Ministry!
Hibernation Retreat 2018
Friendships are a beautiful gift from the Father, but it is difficult to know how to navigate them in this broken world. Join us as we learn together about God’s purposes for us within our friendships, how to be the best kind of friend, and where we find the resources and power to live out this beautiful calling. Because of our friend, Jesus, we can hope for more in this life for our relationships!

Abby is the Director of Women’s Ministry at Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church in Gahanna, Ohio. She also works for Parakaleo, a ministry that comes alongside women in ministry, as a Network Leader, Gospel Coach and Alongside Trainer. She loves to study and teach God’s Word and delights in helping others experience and know their Heavenly Father better. Abby is married to Ken, and they have two children, Hannah (13) and Harris (12). They live in Westerville, Ohio. Look out for Abby’s upcoming book, God For Us, Not Against Us, due to release in the Fall of 2018.
Since marrying Ed, a widower and a pastor with four small children, Emily’s life has been anything but ordinary. Adopting the kids when she was 24 years old, ministering with Ed in the church where she was raised, serving together with MTW in Romania, she’s lived the gospel reality that our stories are both broken and beautiful, and it’s her delight to help women look to Jesus as they wrestle through this in their own lives. Emily currently lives in Jackson, MS, where she works for Parakaleo. She and Ed enjoy the “party of two” (empty nest), which frees them to minister together to missionaries and church planters around the world. They have 4 adult children (two married) and 3 grandkids.
This year the Women’s Ministry theme is “Unwrapping God’s Gifts of Grace,” as we consider how we can receive the gifts God gives His people. Notice what gifts the young church was opening in Acts 2:40-47—sacraments, God’s word, prayers, and lots of fellowship. And notice a result of these gifts: gladness and simplicity of heart. That’s something we can’t order on Amazon.com!
As you look at your calendar, we hope you will find an opportunity to open some similar gifts here at CPC. Some may be found in the Hibernation Retreat, or at a Fall Bible study, or in a Women 2 Women accountability group. These are designed to include fellowship, God’s
word, and prayer—amazing packages better than anything on St. Nick’s sled.
