Reading the Bible in a Year

Let's face it, reading the Bible regularly is tough work. You wouldn't think so. Most of us can handle English just fine. But it's not the language and grammar of reading that's the problem. It's the desire, the time, the commitment, the battle with sin and temptation, etc. There's also all that about figuring out what to read. Do I just let the book drop open and plant my finger somewhere on the page and pick out a random verse? Or is there more than that?

I'd suggest to you that a systematic, regular, reading through the Bible daily is most helpful. And there are seemingly countless "methods" for reading through the Bible in a year (check out the schedule in the appendix of Dr. Douglas Kelly's If God Already Knows, Why Pray?). However, I'm giving you links to three fairly popular reading schedules.

Ligonier Ministries, founded and chaired by Dr. R.C. Sproul, has this that you can download as a pdf.
Robert Murray M'Cheyne's schedule is just about the gold standard. We have hard copies of them at the church, but you can have options if you click here.
Finally, the ESV Bible website has a plethora of choices for you as well. Ooh, they even have M'Cheyne's schedule available in an iCal-compatible format (for Outlook, iCal, Google calendar, and more).
